Mae Monday

This morning was a doozy of trying to aid Mae in getting dress. Some days she comes out of her room for the day completely dressed, some days she goes upstairs after breakfast and does it herself, and some days she and I will go upstairs and I will help/guide her in what to wear. Today, she asked me to help her so I did. It took us 45 minutes to find something that she wanted to wear that was weather appropriate. Mae insists on wearing her summer clothes still but since it was below 50 degrees this morning I didn't think that was that smart of a decision.  We finally decided on something and I told her to go look in the mirror to see if she was happy - definitely a mistake on my part.

She stood there look at herself and then cried and said, "I look like a big fat president!!"

What?!?

I don't know where she even got that one. I will tell you this was also a teaching lesson for us. I told Mae that she needs to decide on something to not fret about her clothes. I hope that she doesn't get too wrapped up in what to wear at such a young age. I want her to express her individuality but want her to also be carefree!
