Just Another Monday

Despite being a regular old Monday, there was some great moments during the day. We went to the zoo, read books, watched TV, ate lots of peaches, went to the park, and got to talk to Grandma C via Skype for her birthday!

The obvious highlight of the day was getting to wish Grandma C a very happy birthday. But there was also another highlight. We visited a local park that we had never been. The park was NOT the highlight albeit fun, it was a park. The actual high point was overhearing Mae say to a little girl who fell off the monkey bars, "are you ok?" Awww. I was blown away by her compassion to a stranger.

Here are some photos from the zoo.

Saying hello to the penguins.  Despite being members at the zoo,  this was Whitaker's first visit where he interacted with the animals.
He would screech at the penguins when he saw them. It was cute for me to hear, not so cute for the folks around us.
Whitaker was in and out of the stroller the whole time. He was a trooper about it all.
This is a coloring book that Mae refers to as her newspaper. It has all the wild animals in it. She  was looking up the animals we were going to check out.
Mae and I checking out the porcupines.
How Mae feels about me on occasion.
Saying hello to the two huge brown bears.
This was right before the bears thought Whitaker was lunch and banged the screen. He (rightfully so) melted down and was scared out of his mind.
Checking out the sea otters. Much more his speed.

Mae imitating the bears that scared Whitaker.
More imitation.
Despite being scared the first time, he went back for more. That kid is fearless.
Saying hello to the gorillas.
Sibling love.
And a carousal ride.
Whitaker first carousel ride. Me trying to take a photo in the mirror.
Picture taking while holding firmly to the little boy.

Mae loving her horse on the carousel.
Whitaker not so sure.
