Today was Whit's 9 month wellness checkup. As for his stats, he was measured at 27 inches tall (11.59%), weighed in at 20.2 pounds (43.28%), and his head was 47 centimeter (90.50%).
I wasn't paying much attention during the stats taking and I just assumed everything was on track. I have noticed with Whitaker I am far less - more like, NOT even - concerned about his growth or measurements. He looks healthy and seems healthy. Call it more relaxed parenting. At the end of each appointment the doctor's office gives you a sheet with all your kids stats for the visit. Hence that I know his weight is in the 43 POINT 28 percentile. Call me crazy, but I am not crazy enough to write it or calculate it to that decimal point. So at the end of this appointment I took the sheet and headed towards the elevator. I looked at the sheet while pushing the bottom and noticed that Whit had slipped from the 98 percentile in height to the 11 POINT 59 percentile. Strange I thought but again thought not too much of it. Again, he is healthy and I assumed he had grown. Also, Ashley, Dr. Sheridan's nurse, was not there today and a nurse who had never worked in pediatrics was filling in. I just assumed she messed up.
Later in the day, I decide to check this month's stats against his 6 months stats. Needless to say I was a little shocked when I realized Whitaker shrunk an inch! I knew that was not the case and again just chalked it up to the nurse. I called the doctor just to ensure this wouldn't mess his chart up for future. My doctor apologized for not catching it and the nurse said I could bring him back in. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble. Even more relaxed parenting.
I think the only stat we can be certain of this month is the weight. Again, he is a big boy but looks like his weight gain has slowed down. My back is saying thank goodness!

Um... I was just thinking the same thing! There is NO WAY those percentiles are correct. No way. Google "growth chart for infant boys" and type in his length and weight. I'm sure he's at least 90% with those numbers. Something would be very off if he fell to the 11th%-- there's no way! Look at that chunky monkey! :)
