The last few days and weekend have been the right mix of busy, family and friend time, and relaxing.
First up, Pearson and I quit drinking for the ENTIRE month of January as a way to jump start our health and lay off the booze after indulging a little too much in December. So this weekend on Saturday, I enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine.
On Saturday afternoon, my big sister in my sorority from college organized a bunch of people at the ice skating rink in Georgetown. Heather and I took Will and Mae and left the little boys and husbands at home. (Luke was at another birthday party). Mae was a total rock star. Here she is pushing around the penguin, which helped her stay upright but she would also "skate" while holding my hand.
Will and Mae enjoying hot chocolate after skating.
Whit has taken to walking around with a bag of marshmallows, he even has slept with them a couple of times. He doesn't even ask to eat them - even though he loves them - he just likes holding the bag.
On Sunday, it was warm - meaning in the upper 50s! It was amazing. After being stuck in the house for too many days, we headed out the door at 9 am with the kids to scoot. Here are photos from our morning. (As a note these photos were taken on manual setting. I am still trying to work on the things I learned in photography class).

| I tried to get a picture with Pearson and the kids but as you see Whit is directly behind him and Mae is playing in a puddle. |

And after all that the kids decided to take to the hill. The kids just went up and down the hill on their scooters.
Johanna aka Grandma C. got me a book for Christmas about pretzel making. I tried it out a couple of weeks ago and they came out really good. Let me note that these require using food grade lye for the water bath for their crusty outer shell - handling the lye requires gloves and goggles, which is a little concerning to work with at first - but they are definitely worth it. I decided to make pretzels for a Super Bowl party at Heather's house. Pearson thinks that I should become a pretzel chef.

Each week Mae's class is showcasing one of the students. This week is Mae's week. Here is a picture of the poster she put together to tell everyone who she is.
It was raining and snowing all day yesterday. Whit decided to not nap so we decided to start making our Valentine's Day cards. The kids painted and did art for an HOUR AND HALF!!! It was unbelievable in a really, really good way. I really need to get art supplies out more often.

Looks like a great few days! I love the scooter pics and those pretzel dogs look AMAZING! I'm with P…you should open a pretzel store! Awesome. Pete and Henry absolutely love doing art projects and I long ago threw my hands up and now say "yes" whenever they ask. I find it's actually a whole lot easier (and less messy!) than stupid play-doh (which I loathe). Plus, they're happy and busy and the tv is off! It's a win-win for everyone! Miss you all!
