Last week with nothing going on and itch to get out of our house (have I mentioned that we still can't use the basement), the kids, my mom, and I decided to head to the beach. It truly is a blessing to go to the beach whenever we want and get to stay in a place that my kids know and love. Along with going to the beach almost everyday we also went to the Children's Museum in Wilmington, a petting zoo, and saw a movie. It was a jam packed week and everyday I am reminded how lucky my kids are that they get to have the most wonderful adventures but also that I get to do it alongside them.
Now that is not to say that the weekend was all sunshine and ice cream. Going to the beach as a solo parent is pretty darn exhausting. I felt like part pack mule, part prune for some of it. My kids LOVE being in the water. And not just splashing in the surf. They want to be out in the ocean. If we were at the beach for 4 hours, we were in the water generally for 85% of the time.
I wasn't able to capture as many photos of the kids AT the beach as I would have liked or more of them in the water riding the waves but see above about me always being near them.

As soon as we got in to Oak Island at around 5, we unpacked and hit the beach. Here is us enjoying the sun going down on the beach. |
You know those kids that don't like having sand touch them. Mae is not one of those kids. After being in the ocean she goes to lie in the hottest part of the sand she can. |
One day the kids wanted to help clean so we took the kitchen chairs out so they could scrub them down. |

Then the chairs stopped getting washed and they decided to wash each other with the hose. |
