Insult to Injury

Well the last 48+ hours have been less then boring to say the least. On Friday morning we woke up to our basement flooding AGAIN. Mind you this was at 6 am. After bailing water two weeks ago, Pearson and I could not do it yet again. My body won't allow me and Pearson had to work so we moved all our stuff to higher ground and let the water come in. There was an inch of water throughout the entire basement. That is all I can say about that now since our house is war zone and I have no more energy to focus on the lack of action happening.

Then on Friday night the kids were in bed. All of sudden Whitaker started screaming at the top of his lungs. Pearson and I both rushed in to see what was the matter, assuming he had fallen and hurt himself, which happens countless times a day. Nope. This time he had tried to give Mae a goodnight  and she poked him in the eye. He kept saying [through screams] that he couldn't open his eye but I thought with a little sleep it would be better. I encouraged him to lay down and try to get some rest. Mind you, I also gave him some Benadryl because I had to take him to the doctor for some horrible rash earlier in the week so I knew he was exhausted and just needed to get some. Anyway back to the poked eye. Whitaker woke up a couple of hours later screaming/crying and I couldn't get him to wake up enough to tell me what was going on. This happened probably about 10 times throughout the night. He would go to sleep then wake up screaming. Finally at 6 he was still miserable and complained he couldn't open his eye, which he couldn't/wouldn't. Pearson and I were both worried enough that we thought a trip to the ER was needed. So off we headed on Saturday morning.

Go to find out Mae scratched Whit's cornea about a half inch wide. The doctor provided some antibacterial ointment and told us she was glad we came in. I was thankful for an answer.

As the the score card stands now, Mae 1, Whitaker 0.

OH my gosh!!!! Poor Whitaker!!!! Poor YOU! Ahhh…. I had an "eye situation" last summer (although no one scratched mine) but I literally could not open them they hurt so badly. I've gotta say, the pain was so intense it made me want to vomit. Awful. So I totally feel for Whit… poor baby. I'm sure that he was in so much pain. :( I'll call you today or tomorrow. I want to hear what's going on with the basement now. Hang in there!! xoxo
