Mae has been learning about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in school to coincide with the observance of President's Day. To enhance her teachings in school we decided to go to the Lincoln Memorial this morning. A first for her and Whit! Mae's reaction to the whole thing,"his hair doesn't look the same as in the pictures."
NOTE: Pearson lived in DC prior to us moving here. In those years of living here, he never went to the Lincoln Memorial or Vietnam War Memorial. Today marked his first time at these monuments. His response, "I started to tear up when I read the words [Gettysburg Address]."
Today was a day in history for our family.
