Holy Shit! I can't believe I haven't written in three weeks. Needless to say, the last three weeks have been a whirlwind of activity, emotion, stress, relief, and drama. The last time I wrote, I discussed "The Script" and how I was looking forward to a really great last week in Seattle. Well we definitely got that but we also go a little less then we asked for (keep reading).
In a nutshell (pictures and words) here is what the last few weeks have looked like.
We said our goodbyes to Seattle and all our wonderful and amazing friends there. Our good friends threw us a going away party the week before we left. Thanks to Kate and Ash Milad who hosted an unforgettable evening for us.

On the Friday before the Monday we left, we hosted a mini going away movie night party for Mae and her three best girl friends. This evening was an absolute blast and it was even sadder then our going away party night, if that is possible? Reason being, I am fortunate that Mae's three girlfriends' Moms are also my really good friends. Funny how that always works out. So not only did Mae get to say good bye to her girlfriends, I got to say good bye to mine AGAIN.
On the Saturday before we left we spent the day on Vashon Island. They day was beautiful and the whole thing about it made me realize what I was going to miss so much about Seattle (besides the people). The amazing views, the natural beauty, the ability to be transported to another place by ferry, the easy living, and the relaxed nature of the city.

In the early Sunday morning hours before we were scheduled to leave the next day, Pearson woke up at 2 am declaring he was going to the hospital. He had been complaining of stomach pain for the better part of the day but chalked it up to something bad he ate. After not being able to sleep and the pain getting increasingly worse, he thought it best to head to the ER to get it check out. Well thankfully he did because he ended up getting his appendix removed at 7:30 in the morning on Sunday. He then was released from the hospital that afternoon at 4:00 pm. (We won't discuss that he probably shouldn't have been released as earlier as he did). That day was a blur and a ball of stress. Oh I also failed to mention that we were scheduled to have an open house that day from 1 to 4 pm. Thank heavens for our many dear friends who I passed my kids off to for part of the day. But most importantly thank heavens for Pearson being ok.

Despite the chaos and stress from the day before, the kids and I decided to still board a plane for Washington, DC and say goodbye to Seattle. Pearson and I both thought that it would be easier to get them out of there since he wasn't able to lift them for over a week and he needed to get maximum rest. And so after 7 years for me, almost 4 for Mae, and a little over 2 for Whitaker, we said our final good byes....
to our house.
to Ditka.
to the city of Seattle, which we love and have called home for many years.
The last two weeks in Virginia have been an adjustment and have been rather rocky. Not only are the kids' moods all over the place but they only want to be with me. On the upside, we have been enjoying the neighborhood pool (I put Mae in swim lessons last week) and being close to family.
