Sickness

Whit has had a fever of 99 to 101 for the last three days. He has had a runny nose, hasn't been eating, and is generally discontent. UGHH! I have been administering tylenol, trying to make sure he gets lots of sleep (impossible), and am trying to keep him occupied. Needless to say it has been less than enjoyable state of affairs around here. The little dude who is generally so happy and mellow either looks like this (yes, this is Mae's sweater).
OR this [comatose].

In other unrelated news...We inherited a bunch of furniture from Johanna following her move from Seattle, including a very nice leather reclining chair. Needless to say a certain someone has already deemed it her chair.

A Girl and Some Suds

Mae already loves massages (or mae-ssages as she sometimes refers to them) and "bubbly" [drinking] water, so I figured we might as well introduce the triad of luxury indulgences - bubble baths! I don't know what has taken me so long to introduce them in our nightly bath, maybe because I rarely take baths. But seeing how much she enjoyed the suds, I think it will be a Sunday night ritual. The girl can't be taking luxurious bubble baths everyday.

It isn't goodbye

Yesterday, was a very eventful, chaotic, and sad day for us. Yesterday, was the day that Grandma C. aka Johanna aka Mom moved out of her place in Seattle. I have mentioned in previous posts that Johanna has lived part time in Seattle for the last two years. She has rented a water view studio apartment next to the Sculpture Garden. After consideration, she decided to travel a bunch this year (following Misha's passing) and give up her apartment. This was the right decision, however, that means we aren't going to be seeing her nearly as much.

Selfishly, Johanna's time in Seattle has been invaluable to me. She has routinely watched Mae for me (giving me many needed breaks while pregnant and while having Whit), she watched Whit for the days I have to work coop, she pitched in when we have doctor's appointments/meetings/are sick, and she was mine and Pearson's date night babysitter.

In addition to all the number of things she does for ME, Mae absolutely adores her Grandma C. Whitaker is starting his adoration. Furthermore, Pearson benefits from having his mom around. And even though this isn't goodbye (Johanna can come stay with us anytime), it felt like a very sad day.

9 Months Stats

Today was Whit's 9 month wellness checkup. As for his stats, he was measured at 27 inches tall (11.59%), weighed in at 20.2 pounds (43.28%), and his head was 47 centimeter (90.50%).

I wasn't paying much attention during the stats taking and I just assumed everything was on track. I have noticed with Whitaker I am far less - more like, NOT even - concerned about his growth or measurements. He looks healthy and seems healthy. Call it more relaxed parenting. At the end of each appointment the doctor's office gives you a sheet with all your kids stats for the visit. Hence that I know his weight is in the 43 POINT 28 percentile. Call me crazy, but I am not crazy enough to write it or calculate it to that decimal point. So at the end of this appointment I took the sheet and headed towards the elevator. I looked at the sheet while pushing the bottom and noticed that Whit had slipped from the 98 percentile in height to the 11 POINT 59 percentile. Strange I thought but again thought not too much of it. Again, he is healthy and I assumed he had grown. Also, Ashley, Dr. Sheridan's nurse, was not there today and a nurse who had never worked in pediatrics was filling in. I just assumed she messed up.

Later in the day, I decide to check this month's stats against his 6 months stats. Needless to say I was a little shocked when I realized Whitaker shrunk an inch! I knew that was not the case and again just chalked it up to the nurse. I called the doctor just to ensure this wouldn't mess his chart up for future. My doctor apologized for not catching it and the nurse said I could bring him back in. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble. Even more relaxed parenting.

I think the only stat we can be certain of this month is the weight. Again, he is a big boy but looks like his weight gain has slowed down. My back is saying thank goodness!

Every Thursday for a Year (Week 39)

Oops, looks like I forgot to take a picture of Whitaker on Thursday. One of the photos from Wednesday will have to count.

Who is the Queen?

A little sun, a crown, and some silly times this afternoon.
